So, What’s in the Healthcare Bill?
The One and his congressional allies (e.g. *spit* Pelosi, Reid and Waxman) are hell bent on passing this 1,000-page legislative turd before they all take a well-needed break from all that hard work being a congresscritter. Seeing as how much of the law wouldn’t kick in for another three years, what’s the rush?
As my constitutional law professor from Maine used to say, “To ahsk the question is to ahnswer it.†Obviously, they know that, if the American people at large know what’s in the bill, it will never be passed. They also know that, once the American people learn what is in the bill, any congressperson who votes for it may well have to leave Washington to find a real job.
Just in case you might be interested, take a look at some of the gems that currently are in the bill.
You also should take a listen to Fred Thompson interviewing Betsy McCoy, New York’s former Lieutenant Governor. She talks about how the bill provides for the “healthcare†of those of us who are on the wrong side of fifty. Ouch!
Thanks to my buddy Brian, the Air Force Vet, for the Fred Thompson link.
We truly need healthcare reform in this country. Too many people lack even basic coverage because they simply cannot afford it. Something has to be done to control costs. At least Obama is trying to do something about it. When the Republicans were in power, they did nothing about healthcare.

This is an epic disaster in the making and Ramirez is dead-on-balls-accurate in this cartoon.
GAME OVER. Thanks for playing.

Kevin,
The Medicare Prescription Drug Bill and the S-Chip (for children’s healthcare) was passed during the Bush Administration (both expensive as hell).
There are things about the healthcare system that should be tweaked, but the answer is not to turn the entire healthcare system (one sixth of the economy) over to the federal government so that the 80% of the people who are satisfied with their healthcare wind up with lousy government-rationed healthcare.
This is not about healthcare (the Mayo Clinic’s response is instructive), but rather about governmental power.
It stinks.

If there really is a significant number of Americans who need help with healthcare , no reasonable person is against that …..But the answer is not to destroy the best healthcare system in the world to do it.
I disagree that any illegals should receive free medical care courtesy of th eAmerican Taxpayers.
I also feel our federal bureacrats should be made a part of the systemrather then to have their own Private system.
Kevin….you need to learn how to check & verify , not to just take verbatim what the leftwing tells you.You are an unwitting fool who is being used by the left to advanc ea fraud.

Kevin- Have you ever experienced military healthcare? Was it a positive experience if you did? Because I lived that crap for 21 years and I have friends who are still living it and… I don’t want it for me or for my family. I feel horrible enough that our men and women in uniform have to contend with it. Government run medicine. I’ll pass, please.

Government run health care is still health care. Under our current system, many people have no health care at all. What is wrong with making sure everyone has access to health care, not just the rich and well to do?
At least someone in Washington to trying to make it better for all.

Kevin ..there is nothing wrong with making healthcare available. In fact it could be made portable from job to job through private sources with a governmental gaurantee……what is wrong is mandating a plan which destroys the private sector, provides less service or coverage for the general population & allows our bloated federal bureaucrats to continue with a private plan just for them which provides care & services far in excess of what we will have who by the way the government is supposed to serve.
If you think anyone in Washington is promoting this turkey for our benefit ….you are abysmally ignorant. It is all about power, control,a way to grab more money & to secure votes.

Kevin, do yourself a favor by researching how “wonderful” socialized health care works in other countries. It doesn’t. Also, your argument that health care isn’t available for everyone is a lie. EVERYONE who lives in this country has access to the finest system on the planet. Do some homework before you spew the typical liberal talking points. By the way, just how old are you?

We already have socialized health care in this country: Medicare and Medicaid. Why not combine these two programs, strenghen them, and make them available to all citizens?

Tell me, Kevin. Why do people like you have sooo much trust in government? Name me ONE thing government does efficiently. Again, do some serious research. Read the bill! Ask yourself another question. Do you REALLY want some government drone making YOUR health decisions for you? Well, DO YOU?

Government is the servant of the people. It only has our best interest at heart. If the government fails to do its job, then we the people have the right and responsibility to get rid of it and institute a new government.

Kevin,
I agree with the first and third sentence. The second one is a scream.
I gotta believe you’re pulling our legs here.
