Jersey Stuff.
It’s late, and I’m beat, so I can offer nothing other than to point you to some interesting Jersey facts that were posted by Shamrocketship, a Jersey Blogger whom I have been fortunate enough to meet.
I have seen some of these before, but even I, a genuine Jersey Native, did not know that the United States Equestrian Team has its headquarters in the Garden State. Go figure.
Oh, and speaking of Jersey, you might want to head over to Politics Unusual and submit your entry to the “You Might be from New Jersey if ………. “ contest.
Say what you will about Jersey. Wile we may have the most disgusting state government imaginable, we got no gators.
Haddon Heights has/had one.

Don’t need no gators, you already have “the kinda sharks that can swim on the sand.” (That’s a short quote for ole Jimmy Buffet.) And they are called politicians–mostly Dems–and they are in the statehouse and Gov’s mansion.
Last one out, turn off the lights. It’ll be good for Global Warming.

An alligator on the loose – in Haddonfield

From left, Todd Vazquez and Kim Tinnes from New Jersey Fish and Wildlife and Haddonfield Police Officer Stephen Camiscioli keep watch on Hopkins Pond.
Authorities warned people not to walk by the pond until the alligator seen there has been captured.
Haddonfield’s popular Hopkins Pond and a surrounding park are expected to remain closed today after the discovery of what appeared to be a four-foot alligator that evaded capture yesterday.
A zoo expert said the toothy reptile “could inflict injury” but, because of its relatively small size, was more a threat to small pets than humans.

“…CBS-FM’s legendary sound will mark its return to the New York market…â€
Well….Northern/Central NJ IS part of the NY market!;-) I grew up with 77 WABC during it’s top 40 hayday ( I have a few Cousin Brucie shows I recorded in 1964) so having CBS FM back again will be like having an old friend back on the radio.

[…apologies, Jimbo, for using your comments as a telegraph service, but…]
Howdy, Jerry. I could tell you have just a few years on me (1964 predated my entry into the world by around 11 years), but re: “…having CBS FM back again will be like having an old friend back on the radio,” I have to absolutely agree with you. I also grew up with CBS-FM, and listening to Harry Harrison, Dandy Dan and Don K. Reed (etc.) were kind of like having my favorite old uncles around.
Now if we could just work on having a country music station in NY, I’d be even happier. Youse in New Jersey are lucky to have 107.1 (“The Wave”), which I can’t get in too clearly in my apartment, and only get to hear in my friend’s car. They play lotsa good stuff on there, too.

Erica,
I remember, as I’m sure Jimbo does, when Harry Harrison and Dandy Dan were on WMCA back in the early 60’s. WMCA had the “WMCA Good Guys” and WABC had the “All American Team”. WINS had Murray The K (who spoke quite often of the “Submarine Races”) A wonderful era to have grown up in. I just turned 60, so I am offically an “Old Fart” who takes frequent mental walks down memory lane. 😉 My many reel to reel recordings of those days, beginning in late ’62, helps me “remember”! Many great farookin’ tapes! 😉
