I Read the News Today, Oh Boy ……
Apparently longing to emulate the student protesters of the sixties, a group of NYU snot noses students staged a sit-in in a university cafeteria, complete with barricades and bullhorns (live blogged here). Among their demands were:
Annual reporting of the school’s operating budget, expenditures and endowment (transparency, don’t ya know)
Thirteen scholarships per year to Palestinian students
The donation of surplus supplies to the Islamic University of Gaza
Permission for graduate student teaching assistants to unionize
A tuition freeze (surprise!)
To its credit, the University was having none of it. Students were advised that if they didn’t leave the building, they would be suspended and possibly expelled. Some left, and others did not. Dozens of students were suspended, and non-student participants will be treated as trespassers.
If I were King, I would have sealed off all but one exit and waited for the students to come out one by one, and as they exited, I would have handed each one of them a notice of expulsion, reminding them that, in the grownup world, actions have consequences.
Not sure what the hippie dippies have their britches in a wad over, since President Assface already crossed that bridge and has that shit completely under control (imagine I am not a technoboob and that this is a block quote, which I don’t know how to make, so I am using italics instead):
“By the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, including section 2(c)(1) of the Migration and Refugee Assistance Act of 1962 (the “Act”), as amended (22 U.S.C. 2601), I hereby determine, pursuant to section 2(c)(1) of the Act, that it is important to the national interest to furnish assistance under the Act in an amount not to exceed $20.3 million from the United States Emergency Refugee and Migration Assistance Fund for the purpose of meeting unexpected and urgent refugee and migration needs, including by contributions to international, governmental, and nongovernmental organizations and payment of administrative expenses of Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration of the Department of State, related to humanitarian needs of Palestinian refugees** and conflict victims in Gaza.”
**Humanitarian needs of Palestinian refugees = suicide vests and qassam rockets.

I’d handed each of them a bill for their share of everybody’s time, too.

I saw this item somewhere on TV (O’Reilly?) and anyway, whoever it was commenting about it said something like, “No idea what they were protesting about” — very dismissive and eyeball-rollish, which I really liked.

What about the parents? I am about ready to send my oldest off to college and God forbid….if I saw his dumb ass on the TV protesting the joint I am fronting 40 large a year to….well, let’s just say Big Pussy’s demise would be kind compared to what happens to him.
It must be nice to have Mommy and Daddy writing the checks as these sorry ass punks decide to get all enlightened over the plight of a bunch of terrorists whose allies created a hole in lower Manhattan.
Tear gas, baby…tear gas.

Those students should be more grateful for what they have.

I got 5 bucks that says none of the protesters were paying for their own tuition.

I have to laugh. These students are protesting in support of a bunch of people who stand for the exact opposite of all of those great leftist ideals – equality for women, gay rights, etc., etc.
Try having a gay rights parade in Gaza and see what happens.
If there is anything we Children of the Sixties should have learned, it’s that it is a mistake to allow the inmates to operate the asylum.
