Disgrace.
I cannot get this image out of my head. Of course, it doesn’t help that it’s all over the web, but, even with that, I suspect the image will stick with me for a long time. The spectacle of the President of the United States of America bowing to the Saudi King Abdullah is simultaneously sickening and enraging.
Call me old fashioned, but I believe that the President of the United States, in his role as President, should bow to no mortal. None. Ever.
If being a member-in-good-standing of the world community means that the President must behave as a supplicant to anyone, let alone a monarch of a repressive country and a country, which, but for sitting atop of sea of oil, would be little more than a collection of desert nomads stuck in the seventh century, we shouldn’t join the club.
This is only the beginning – I heard that when he gets back to the States, he’s going to bow down to the Burger King AND a pair of queen-sized pantyhose.

a fXXXing raghead bowing to a fXXXing raghead. Tar and feathers seems more and more to be appropriate

Could it be that he is just showing respect to fellow head of state?
Comment by Kevin — April 4, 2009 @ 4:39 pm
Kevin,
In a word, “no.” The room was full of heads of state and he chose to bow to this one.

We once were quite the thorn in the side of the rest of the world. We refused to bow. It’s still the case, as far as I know, that our citizens are not allowed to be knighted. Our gun ownership laws date to a time when only gentlemen were allowed to own them. Since all Americans are equal, all are allowed the rights of gentlemen.
Early in its history, when the US was still a revolutionary government dealing with a world of kings and emperors, there was a custom that ambassadors had to enter the presence of a certain king on their hands and knees. This was enforced by arranging for the entrance door to be 3 feet tall. Of course the American ambassador entered butt first.

Obongo bows for any terrorist of a higher rank than himself.

It doesn’t help that the men watching the spectacle have that ‘Holy crap!’ look on their faces.

I always said when I visited England I hope I do not meet the queen, because I would not bow to her under any circumstances. Same goes with Pope, The President. any King or Monarch. I will not bow to my Japanese customers. I take pride the US Flag dips for no one at the Olympics. This dipshit has done much that disgusts me, but this is pretty high on the list.

Am I the only one who thinks Obama’s fat ass looks ripe for a paddle-whacking or ass-kicking in that photo? I’d like to send that obsequious fucker flying.

Now THERE’s a pic they’ll find useful in the next anti-US PR campaign. Sheesh.

I do not remember the same level of outrage when W walked around holding hands with the same gentleman.
Comment by Joseph — April 7, 2009 @ 7:53 am
Joseph,
Holding hands is a sign of friendship in the Arab world (and it would have been rude and “undiplomatic” to reject the overture), while bowing is a sign of subservience, both in the Arab world and here.

I remember exactly the same level of outrage when Bush held that dirtbag’s hand, but unfortunately he was held to a completely different, and unreasonable standard than Obama is. People only see what they want to see. People were disgusted when Bush held his hand, but suddenly when Obama freaking BOWS to him, “Ohhhh, it’s nothing…it’s a sign of respect…Bush held his hand and it was no big deal.” GMAFB. Bush held his hand and that gives the left impetus to smear the flag with fake blood and riot in the streets.

“I’m surprised he didn’t blow the King”
Nope, he was saving that for Queen Michelle, she insisted…
Comment by Hoot Gibson — April 7, 2009 @ 10:03 am
Jim,
Bowing is a sign of respect and not subservience in many parts of the world( eg Japan). A sensei always bows to his students who bow slightly lower. I do not know about the Arab world but I do know many presidents have met Arab leaders even friends and not held hands.
Comment by Josephzaccardi — April 8, 2009 @ 7:22 am
Joseph,
And damned sure none of them bowed.
