  3. Huge ditto. If I had been on time for work that day I could have been there when that happened. That would have been about when my train would be under the WTC. I was just lucky that I had to stop on the way to get something and was running 20 minutes late.

I cannot forgive or forget. Nor can I forget all the posters on the utility poles begging for information about a father or son or husband or wife that someone could not get any information about nor can I forget all the memorials outside the local fire stations with flowers and posters and other items there in memory of the firemen and police and what they did that day. My next door neighbor spent 18 hours a day for over 2 weeks volunteering by driving heavy construction equipment at Ground Zero to see if there were any survivors left there. My little home city in Ohio sent the whole fire department and police to help out that day. The country pulled together then. Now it is just another day to most of the people here and they don’t even want the photos printed.

Now I read in the Boston Globe that the teachers are looking on it as a “teachable moment.” Shudder to think what they will say.

  5. I’m from Brazil and all I can say is:
I will never forget and I will never forgive.
My prayers this morning went for all of those who died that day.
And I tahnk you all for you keep a light shining in our lives, the light of democracy (though there are some people working hard to make it end …)

  6. How can anyone forget about that day? Just like the attack on Pearl Harbor, it is firmly established in the American consciousness. I remember exactly where I was on September 11, 2001.

  7. I’ve not forgotten, and I’m part of the 2996 project this year. I’m afraid that not everyone had someone assigned to them, so anyone reading this, who’d like to take part, even late, go to: http://project2996.wordpress.com/2009-participants/
