Da Boardwalk.
Nobody captures the essence of the Seaside Heights Boardwalk in photos better than Lynne. All the photos are excellent, but the ones that really knocked me out are those of the carousel animals. Go HERE, then click the link to the boardwalk pics.
Enjoy.
The best part for us Jersey Peeps is that we can recognize damned near exactly where every pic was taken. We grew up “walking the boards†in Seaside Heights.
Lynne brings it all to life, in spades. Looking at the pictures, I can smell the fries with vinegar and the unmistakable aroma of sausage, peppers and onions frying on the bigass griddles up and down the boardwalk.
aside from all those wonderful food aromas, the one thing that snaps Seaside right back into my mind is the odor of creosote. Back in the pre-EPA days, they used to treat all the underpinnings of the boardwalk and probably lots of the boardwalk itself with it. great memories.

when we were in our teens almost every weekend we went down the shore. can you remember the swiss bob? doors playing light my fire. how cool was that. those were the the good old days nothing to worry about except going to the nam.

We would go down to seaside just to get some clams and a sausage sandwich from that joint in the middle of the boardwalk.

Was there this summer. The magic is still there but I did miss the smell of the creosote oil on the hot daytime boards too. Oh yeah, all it needs is Casino Pier to go find and bring back a Swiss bob and that horn you heard throughout the town.
