It’s probably true but it’s also a matter of perception.
With the hunter as far away from the camera as possible and the photographer closer to the snout it makes the moose look much larger than it normally would.
Don’t get me wrong. That’s one big bull!

The other part of the perspective trick in the picture is that the head is sideways to the body. What appears to be an extremely wide moose carcass is really the height of the moose body going from left(belly) to right (back). You can see the legs off to the left.
That being said, this is one huge faroukin moose.
A normal (large) moose can stand in front of a full size American car (in the instance I know of, a 1971 Ford Galaxy) and casually goober up the windshield while trying to sniff out what the hell a car is.

I remember seeign that picture up here in Alaska last hunting season. Camera angle and all, it is a huge moose with a very, very large set of antlers.
