Youse Guys Are Rotten.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 8:22 pm

gator-arm-bite.jpgOh, youse guys must have read this story (from various sources) and sprinted to your computers to scare the dogshit out of ol’ Jimbo.

Yep, this guy, this guy and even one of the Usual Suspects figured that I very much needed to read about a guy who decided to go snorkeling in a South Caroling Lake, which was posted with “Beware of Alligators” signs only to have his farookin’ arm bitten off by one of those horrid creatures.

Fortunately for this possibly illiterate fellow, a bunch of nurses happened to picnicking on the lake shore (still too close for my money), saw the man flailing about in the water and stopped the massive bleeding, quite probably saving his life.

The 600 pound prehistoric beast was shot, and the fellow’s arm was removed from its stomach and flown to the hospital for possible re-attachment.

I hope the guy comes out of this OK, but snorkeling in a lake in South Carolina where there are “Beware of Alligator” signs?

Dude, not too smart.

  1. Remember the Gary Larson cartoon of the old lady feeding the gator? STG, working for a short stint at an assisted living facility, we had to make sure the old folks wouldn’t feed the gators. Honestly. They turned the gators into their grandkids.

It’s not like their grandkids would visit them anyway. Still, we had to put an end to it. Farookin’ gators.

  4. I didn’t hear this until now… well of course all your friends would want you to know about it. That’s how you know they’re your friends. LOL.

  5. That picture is not the gator in question, that one is just a baby. We are saving the tail for the guy when he gets out of the hosipital.

  6. Wow, that is why I stay on the hill when looing for gators. I am trying to catch a seven foot white gator now. I got some chicken on a big ass hook and it is tied to a tree, hope I get him today. I will sell him for 700.00 if I catch him alive.

  7. You know what scares me? Water moccasins. Gators don’t. I stay away from them and know where they are. Water moccasins scare the ever living shit out of me. they just lurk in the water. Ready to kill you.

We’re taking the cub scouts camping in January and there is fresh water where we can all go boating. (Not canoes.) One of the Moms said, “Nobody put their feet in the water, there are sometimes gators.” Then someone else chimed in and said, “Oh but the water moccasins are bad.” I sat up and said, “I will not be boating.” Blech. Makes my skin crawl and my stomach turn and I break out in a cold sweat just thinking of water moccasins. Gah.

  8. you know the problem with having that arm reattached after it being in the belly of that gator? Every time his wife smells that fishy smell on his fingers he will be in trouble..

  10. I’m with Bou. I’m not worried about the gators. I can see them coming. It’s the damned moccasins that chase you that scare me. They like to hide in the pool skimmer, too, the fuckers.

  11. Short Stay, where this happened, used to be a navy relational area. I sailed and skied out of there many times in the 70s. I don’t remember seeing any gators back then. But down the Tailrace canal that runs from Lake Moultrie to the Cooper river there were plenty of big gators. I skied the Tailrace and the Cooper too, but stayed far away from the bank (mainly due to snakes).
