Welcome to my hell. I try to connect current events and such to what we are reading and I hear crickets. Yep.
A year before 9/11 I asked a class if they knew who O.B.L. was. None of them did. I then told them that he was one of the worst terrorists around that he won’t be happy until he accomplishes something really horrible. Then I went into my “know what’s going on” speech.
Kids. For as detached from learning as I was in high school, I knew what was going on around me. I watched the news, paid attention to events, and I read.

I remember years ago Candid Camera had the same idea on one of their programs about the danger of having the infectious disease of scruples & what we need to do to defend the public. Ignorance is cross generational, & yes they will all vote democratic.
I echo RT….. when in High School , being detached was indeed the norm but I did know what was going on & I could comprehend what was said or written. Sadly this for increasing numbers of our youth being detached may still be the norm but ignorance is on the rise.

I don’t want to get ahead of myself here, but when I was in high school, I cut classes and hung out with the riff-raff, and then I left college before I could get my Associates. And still, I am, at least a follicle of a hair more academically sentient than them, having known what Women’s Suffrage is from the time I was about 11. I do, however, tend to f**k up my state capitals, so perhaps I should just STFU.
