OK, I Give Up.

I admit it. I’ll be damned if I can figure out the trick here.

Anyone?

  1. Well, it didn’t work for me, but I have gone to some of these types of website before, that actually do seem to guess what you’re thinking. Spooky.

  5. Well, looks like I figured it out. And yes, it is “about the nines”.
Here is what they ask you to do (with a two digits being a and b):
10a+b-(a+b)=9a. So whatever result you have would be a multiple of nine. The image map is randomly generated every time, but all positions with numbers that re multiple of nine are taken by the same symbol, which is then “magically” displayed to awe the player.

  7. Ah ha! Yes, now I remember. In second grade, we learned to check our addition and subtraction by “casting out nines.”

For a sanity check I googled “casting out nines.”

  10. There are three numbers to choose from and therefore three results once you do your subtraction. Each and every time you do this, the three resulting numbers all have the same symbol. As a result, the symbol that appears when they “read your mind” is the correct one since it’s the only one offered for the three numbers you can come up with. (Assuming you do the subtraction correctly.)

I suggest you cut the crap, as this will not go well for you, if you keep it up.

  13. just to mess with it, I chose the same number 4 times. It missed the number all four times. Couldn’t come up with 36 somehow..
