Gotcha!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Teresa @ 12:04 pm

What could possibly go wrong with this proposition…
Surcharge could fund NJ State Police patrols

The Democrat wants to tack a $40 surcharge on all motor-vehicle violations.

Half the money would be used to help towns pay for State Police patrols. The other half would go to towns that have full-time police department

All you peeps who live in New Jersey, get ready to be ticketed for anything and everything including any incremental speed over the posted speed limit. With a $40 per ticket bounty… I’m seeing the headlines now

New Jersey – Avoid Driving There At All Costs

or even

New Jersey – Rent A Chauffeured Limo While Visiting – Save Money

Good thing it hasn’t taken effect yet or Hairboy and the Usual Suspects would be in for a rude surprise on the drive home after their vacay.

  1. my town could pocket at least 4 grand a day at that rate, just by tagging the assholes that drive past my house. it’s a thirty five zone, i’d guess that one in every fifteen or twenty cars does something within five mph of that, most are going at least forty five or fifty. once, when i call the cop shop to complain about the lack of enforcement i was told “you can always move”.
    nice, huh?

  2. Idiot drivers do that on our road too. It’s narrow, twisty, hilly, two lane with trees growing right next to the edge of the street… yet people careen down the thing like it’s the Indy 500. I’ve seen them nearly hit pedestrians out walking (my husband and I take evasive maneuvers when we hear cars coming), not to mention never being in their own lane. Ever.

I figure one day I’ll be taken out by some moron while I’m getting the mail out of my box (which is across the road from my driveway). I try to listen for cars, but if it’s windy – it’s impossible to hear if any are coming because of the trees.

  3. They already did that here. They tripled all traffic fines and parking violations. Ten miles over the speed limit and they double it again.

For example 70 in a 55 will get you $360 plus

  4. I can only imagine what they’re response will be when they do find out.

  5. I see Jersey is becoming more and more charming every year! With the corruption in the state government that has been going on for years up there, I wouldn’t be surprised if the money never got where it was supposed to. Of course, we’re talking about the state that made EZ-Pass a complete failure, while surrounding states did just fine with it.

I’d say “no offense”, but I wouldn’t really mean it. 🙂

  6. I’m from PA, so I already know too well to avoid that crazy Soviet satellite across the Delaware.

I’ve driven into and out of NJ three different ways in my life – over the George Washington Bridge, the Ben Franklin Bridge, and I-78. Each time, you only have to pay a toll when LEAVING NJ. Says a lot!
